Robin Day, OBE, RDI, FCSD (25 May 1915 – 9 November 2010)[1] was one of the most significant British furniture designers of the 20th century, enjoying a long career spanning seven decades. An accomplished industrial and interior designer, he was also active in the fields of graphics and exhibitions.

‘Reclining chair’ designed in 1952 by Robin Day for Hille, UK.
Stove-enamelled steel rod frame with wooden armrests and upholstered seat. Day considered this design one of his most successful.
The previous owners had the chair reupholstered in a beautiful Mourne Textiles fabric designed by Gerd Hay-Edie who originally supplied fabric for Day’s designs in the 50s.
In very good condition, armrests have been re-polished. Fabric has some fading on the back of the chair but otherwise excellent.
