A very rare floor lamp designed in the 1950s by Beverley Pick as part of the Chrysaline range for GEC (General Electric Company), UK. As well as producing lighting for GEC, Pick was also a prominent display and exhibition designer.

Chrysaline refers to the plastic translucent coating that covers the metal armature of the shade. The egg-shaped shade sits on a three-legged metal base with brass feet and brass ball handle.

In good original condition. The shade has ageing, especially inside. There is a one small slit to the shade material and another much smaller one although not very noticeable. The shade gives off a nice warm glow.

The lamp has had one owner from new and comes with the original purchase receipt.

Has the original wiring although I’m happy to rewire if preferred.

Gives off a beautiful warm light when switched on.

Wooden handmade jewellery box, originally purchased in Sweden in the 1970s.

A very decorative piece. There are multiple compartments with beautifully made wooden hinges in contrasting lighter wood - two bentwood semicircular areas with burgundy felt lining and then two smaller adjacent compartments that have lift out trays perfect for holding smaller pieces of jewellery as well as space beneath.

In good original condition, one small chip at the end (see last photo).

A striking pair of large Arts & Crafts chairs, early 20th century.

Substantially sized with thick oak frame, wide accommodating arms and nicely shaped flared legs. The wood is really beautiful with interesting grain patterns. The seat cushion is sprung and recently upholstered with a quality Osborne & Little fabric.

Large nude sculpture, made of plaster, British circa mid-twentieth century.

A well-executed piece with pleasing patina, artist is unknown. The previous owner remembered it always being in her parents’ house which would date it around mid-century, possibly earlier. Her father was an architect but also an artist so it could possibly be by him, unfortunately it is not signed.

Sturdy and quite heavy. The plaster has aged nicely, there is a bit of loss to one foot and possibly some old repairs.

A one-off wall shelf unit. A really beautiful piece sitting somewhere between arts & crafts/modernism/mid-century. British, made in the 1940s to early 1950s.

Made of oak, angular modernist shape with small areas of simple detail such as carving to the sloping edges and cutouts on the front edge.

Would work really nicely in a kitchen for storage or as a bookcase in a living room.

In nice condition, some rings marks to the top.

Set of 5 TC100 espresso cups and saucers designed in 1959 by Nick Roericht and made by Thomas Rosenthal, Germany. Roericht designed the TC100 range for his thesis at the Ulm School of Design in 1959.

A vintage stickback chair designed by Ronald Ingles for Heals, 1950s. A great looking design, reminiscent of George Nakashima’s 1940s ‘Straight’ chair and Paul Mccobb’s 1950s ‘Planner’ chair.

All structurally solid with no wobbles. The finish has some wear here and there but nothing distracting.

This is the original artwork used to mock up a poster, featuring a glued on blue wave motif and Letraset type. In good condition, the blue paper is wrinkled in places, there are pinholes in each corner. Would look really striking framed.

The poster is for an exhibition called “A city for the whole man” at the City of London Exhibition Hall, early 1970s. It features black type on a silver background. Included is the original artwork made by the Reids to produce the artwork typography - a layout of the type on paper with a stamp for Ion Signs Ltd and marked “John & Sylvia Reid”, dated 1971. A second looser layout of the type on tracing paper is included, annotated with notes and further sketches.

Poster is 75.5cm high x 50.5cm wide, paper mockup is 51cm high x 54.5cm wide, mockup on tracing paper is 50.5cm x 51.5cm.

A large set of 69 pieces of Safir cutlery by Wallin Brothers, Sweden. Stainless steel with wooden handles, look like either dark teak or rosewood. A very elegant and well balanced design and rare to find as a large set.

In excellent condition, looks like it’s been barely used. There are a few lighter coloured wood handles. One teaspoon has some cracking to the wood but not very noticeable.

An unusual handmade wooden storage unit with four pullout drawers. A striking design with echoes of Gerrit Rietveld.

Dark wood uprights support four drawers in a lighter wood. The drawers span the full width and can pulled out from either side, they are lined in strong blue baize.

A small piece, probably designed for storing sewing items or jewellery. I’m not sure of the date but I would estimate at late 20th century.

Wonderful painting of a boy and his dog by Spanish artist Rafael Alvarez Ortega (1927-2011), circa mid-20th century.

A really characterful painting - a young boy sits astride his dog, looking confidently out at the viewer, the dog somewhat scrappy and dishevelled. The detailed brushwork of the pair stands out against the solid blocks of background colour. Comes in the original frame, nicely aged, with gold surround and hessian insert.

Signed lower right and on the reverse. There has been a repair to the painting at some stage near the boy’s chest (and see patch on the reverse).

Dark oak modernist stool, France, circa 1940s/50s. Great angular shape with echoes of Prouvé.

The stool is sturdy and strong. The top has wear and exposed screws, the legs have a nice deep colour. There are some old wood worm holes to one leg but nothing distracting.

46 piece set of Java cutlery designed in 1977 by David Mellor. Made of stainless steel with broad white acetal resin handles. No longer in production and a rarely seen design.

In the 1970s Mellor designed three revolutionary cutlery ranges (Provençal, Chinese and Java) that were the first to combine stainless steel with high quality moulded acetal resin. Provençal was influenced by elegant French bistro dining, Chinese was quintessentially 70s in its oversized roundness, Java was maybe the most straightforward of the designs, simple and quietly modern.

A pair of dark wood stacking bookcases, circa 1950s. Origin unknown but they are similar to a 1955 design by A Mangiarotti and B Morassutti, Italy.

Price is for the pair together, although they can also be sold singly at £250 each.

Really nicely shaped pieces with cutout base and routed detail that allows the units to stack on top of each other forming a larger bookcase. Circular brass caps cover the fixings.

In good condition with some light age related wear, both are sturdy.

1970s French folding garden bench. Has a great profile and shape with thick tubular metal frame, splayed rear legs and wooden slatted seat and backrest. Folds flat.

The frame has quite a bit of wear and surface rust marks, the paint finish on the slats has some wear too. All sturdy and stable and ready for use.

English 1930s stool/side table by Alpax Lightalloys Limited. Cast aluminium seat with chromed legs. Would have originally had a cork top but looks equally great as is.

Chrome is in good condition and the aluminium has nicely aged.

1960s/70s birch plywood chest of drawers by Liden, England.

Simple set of drawers with pleasingly detailed handle pulls, the birch has mellowed nicely to a warm colour.

In very good original condition, all the drawers move smoothly, some light wear but very well looked after.

‘Cloud’ table designed by Neil Morris — an iconic piece of post-war British furniture design. Created in 1947 for Morris of Glasgow, the table was first introduced under the name ‘Amoeboid,’ though it later became widely known as the ‘Cloud’ table due to its organic, freeform silhouette.

Laminated veneered top with beautifully chamfered edge. The design perfectly captures the optimism and experimentation of mid-century British furniture making.

In very good refinished condition, there are some minor marks to top and the legs.

Vintage Black Lion cutlery by Hackman Finland — a striking example of post-war Scandinavian design by celebrated Finnish silversmith and designer Bertel Gardberg. Originally created in the late 1950s, Black Lion combines beautifully balanced stainless steel forms with distinctive black handles, creating a bold yet refined silhouette.

The chunky handles feel particularly nice to hold. His cutlery is exceptionally practical for everyday use, this particular set has had one owner from new and is in remarkable condition for its age.
