1930s Wells Coates desk & chair for PEL

£495.00

Model HT15 small desk and chair designed by modernist architect Wells Coates in 1934 for PEL (Practical Equipment Ltd). Coates is best known as the architect of the Lawn Road Flats (Isokon Building).

The desk would also work really nicely as a console table or small dressing table.

Tubular chromed frame with black stained oak plank top and drawer with chromed handle. The cantilevered chair has the original black leather upholstery.

In good vintage condition, the black stain has worn nicely and the chrome is in excellent condition. There is a slight gap between two of the planks on the top. The leather on the chair has wrinkled a bit but still good. Both desk and chair have the PEL tag.

Preferably sold as a pair but would consider splitting.

Desk top is 61cm x 40cm (legs are 66cm wide) x 73.25 high. Chair is 78cm high 38.5cm wide 52cm deep x 46cm seat height.
