A vibrant abstract monoprint ‘No. V.25’ by Martyn Brewster (British, b.1952), dated 1990.
Brewster said of his work "I make paintings, drawings and prints that are concerned with Abstract or Landscape themes, or in some cases a combination of both. I use colour in Abstract work for its expressive potential. Colour has the ability to evoke emotions, create sensations and suggest feelings. The beauty and power of colour is central to the images I make in much of my work and is an intrinsic part of the subject matter."
He has won numerous awards and his work is in private, public and corporate collections worldwide including the Victoria & Albert Museum, the British Museum, Pallant House, Chichester, and the Hepworth Wakefield.
In a simple aluminum frame. Print in excellent condition, signed and titled, some ageing to the mount.

A striking pair of large Arts & Crafts chairs, early 20th century.

Substantially sized with thick oak frame, wide accommodating arms and nicely shaped flared legs. The wood is really beautiful with interesting grain patterns. The seat cushion is sprung and recently upholstered with a quality Osborne & Little fabric.

A great everyday cutlery set, stainless steel with distinctive long handles with fluted detail and angular spoon bowls. They are stamped ‘Stainless, Denmark’.

56 piece set of Pride silver-plated cutlery designed in 1953 by David Mellor and made by Walker and Hall, Sheffield. A beautiful and elegant design that went on to win one of the first Design Centre Awards in 1957.
For 6 people - 6 dinner knives, 6 fish knives, 6 side knives, 6 dinner forks, 6 fish forks, 6 side forks, 6 dessert spoons, 6 soup spoons, 6 teaspoons and 2 large serving spoons.
Originally created while Mellor was still a student at the Royal College of Art, Pride has remained in continuous production and is regarded as one of the most enduring cutlery designs of the 20th century.
Made of A1 grade silverplate with softly tapered handles, the design is equally suited to modern or traditional environments. The knives have stainless steel blades and ivory coloured acetal handles. Beautifully balanced in the hand, the design combines sculptural simplicity with exceptional functionality.
This vintage set dates from the 1950s/60s and is in remarkably good condition. There is some slight natural variation in the colour of the knife handles.
David Mellor still manufacturers Pride, a new set of this size currently retails for over £1500.

An excellent 1930s small cabinet or bookcase. Limed oak with glazed door and ebonised handle and baseboard. Unmarked but very much in the Heals style.
Could be used as a bookcase or for storing glassware.
In very good original condition, slight watermark to the top, bit of wear to the ebonised baseboard, but overall has been well looked after.

A dark and striking abstract painting by Erik J.Nielsen, dated 1962/1963. Nielsen (1916-1972) was a Danish artist known for his lithography work.
Executed in thick, textured paint in sombre greys and blue. Although abstract in form it has the feel an atmospheric landscape or cityscape. Comes in the original simple wooden artist’s frame.
Signed and dated on the reverse. 70.25cm x 54.5cm.
Some cracking of the paint but overall good condition.

A set of 45 pieces of Safir cutlery by Wallin Brothers, Sweden. Stainless steel with slender teak handles. A very elegant and well balanced design. This design was also manufactured by Helle in Norway.

In very good condition. There is some natural variation in the tone of the wood. One dessert form has some slight cracking to the wood but not very noticeable.

A vintage stickback chair designed by Ronald Ingles for Heals, 1950s. A great looking design, reminiscent of George Nakashima’s 1940s ‘Straight’ chair and Paul Mccobb’s 1950s ‘Planner’ chair.
Nicely shaped wide seat with curved stick backrest.
All structurally solid with no wobbles. The finish has some wear here and there but nothing distracting.

An interesting abstract mixed media on paper signed ‘Cann’. I can’t make out the date but it came from a portfolio of 1960s artwork by the same artist.
Printed background with overpainted detail, an energetic arrangement of shapes and motifs in a gorgeous earthy palette of colours.

A one-off wall shelf unit. A really beautiful piece sitting somewhere between arts & crafts/modernism/mid-century. British, made in the 1940s to early 1950s.
Made of oak, angular modernist shape with small areas of simple detail such as carving to the sloping edges and cutouts on the front edge.
Would work really nicely in a kitchen for storage or as a bookcase in a living room.
In nice condition, some rings marks to the top.

Set of 5 TC100 espresso cups and saucers designed in 1959 by Nick Roericht and made by Thomas Rosenthal, Germany. Roericht designed the TC100 range for his thesis at the Ulm School of Design in 1959.
Price is for the set of 5 cups and saucers.
A true display of form following function, Roericht was interested in robustness, stackability and practicality. The design was quickly snapped up by MOMA, New York for their permanent collection.

Large nude sculpture, made of plaster, British circa mid-twentieth century.
A well-executed piece with pleasing patina, artist is unknown. The previous owner remembered it always being in her parents’ house which would date it around mid-century, possibly earlier. Her father was an architect but also an artist so it could possibly be by him, unfortunately it is not signed.
Sturdy and quite heavy. The plaster has aged nicely, there is a bit of loss to one foot and possibly some old repairs.
Vintage wooden table mirror, circa 1970s.
Chunky rounded form, the mirror position is adjustable with a well-made pivoting joint.
In nice original condition, no damage to the wood. The glass has some ageing in one spot.

1930s/40s French ‘Pirouett’ lamp most probably designed by Jean Chavanis.
Interesting construction with various points of adjustment and a nicely shaped base and polished cone shade.
In good condition, some signs of age. Rewired and PAT tested.

Metallux double-shade floor lamp designed by John and Sylvia Reid for Rotaflex, UK, circa 1950s. A rare and important piece of British postwar lighting design.
Square section steel frame with brass fittings and black shades. The position and angle of the shades can be adjusted along the upright frame.
In good condition. No dings to the shades, they have possibly been repainted at some stage in the past but very well done. Brass fittings have aged nicely. The wiring has been redone at some stage. Please contact for a full condition report.

Pair of dugout chairs from Nagaland, Northeast India, mid-20th century. Made from a hollock wood, a native wood to the area.

Charming pieces that contrast nicely with more modern furniture. Lots of age and warmth to them and some old repairs.
Size-wise more useful for children, or could be used as display pieces or even side tables.

Q Swivel chair designed in 1954 by Robin Day for Hille. Based on the Q Stak chair this is a rarely seen swivelling desk chair model.
Bent plywood seat with upholstery and a black metal swivel base that also allows you to change the height of the seat. The upholstery looks like it’s an original Mourne fabric by Gerd Hay-Edie.
The upholstery has wear including some holes, wear along the top edge and some light marks. The chairs swivels smoothly.

Pendant light by John & Sylvia Reid for Forrest Modern from the ‘Glassware’ range, around 1956. Three white satin glass shades on a brass hanger. Previously this light hung in a church in Birkenhead.
I have a few of these available, they can be wired to whatever drop you require.
Shades are in excellent condition. The brass fittings on top of the shade have quite a bit of wear and ageing.
The shades are 34cm high x 12cm diameter. Overall drop of example in the photos i approx 78cm.
Abstract painting by Rosemary Higbee (1923-2019). Signed to the lower right, undated.
A joyous expression of colour and form, housed in the original box frame with decoration on the outside edges.
Higbee was born in India, moving to England when she was 7. She went onto study art at Reading University and Chelsea School of Art and later becoming an art teacher.

A Thonet style bentwood coat rack, European, circa early 20th century. Elegantly curved form that looks wonderful with or without coats on it.
Three hooks, items can either be hung on the top curved section or on the shaped finials at the base of each hook.
Has age and character, one top curve is shorter than the other so perhaps a piece has come off over time. Deep rich colour and patina.

Beautifully shaped chairs with ebonised frame and circular leather seat. Both chairs are very sturdy with no weak joints. The curved backrest and generous sized seat make them very comfortable.

A pair of small ‘Ozoo’ tables designed by Marc Berthier for Prisunic, France, 1970s. Made of lightweight fibreglass with a recessed circular top. They also stack neatly.

In good condition, one table is slightly less white and has some light marks and small area of crazing. Both very sturdy.

Set of three nesting ‘Isocele’ tables designed by Max Sauze, France, late 1960s.
Super-minimalist design, thin white metal frames with thick glass tops with curved corners, nesting neatly into a cube.
In good condition, some minor wear to the paint on the frame, glass has some scratches but no chips.
Largest table is 47cm square x 38cm high.
Nursing chair, late 19th century by Michael Thonet for Gebrüder Thonet Vienna GMBH. Bentwood frame with caned seat.
All very sturdy and usable, a sweet chair for a bedroom corner.

Wooden handmade jewellery box, originally purchased in Sweden in the 1970s.
A very decorative piece. There are multiple compartments with beautifully made wooden hinges in contrasting lighter wood - two bentwood semicircular areas with burgundy felt lining and then two smaller adjacent compartments that have lift out trays perfect for holding smaller pieces of jewellery as well as space beneath.
In good original condition, one small chip at the end (see last photo).
